The Christ the Redeemer Statue

The Statue of Christ the Redeemer is 39.6m (130ft) tall and weighs in at 700 tonnes. It is located at the peak of the Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park and overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro.

The statue is made of concrete and covered in tiny triangular pieces of soapstone. It took 9 years to construct from 1922 - 1931.
